Ultrasound-Guided Injections

Ultrasound-Guided Injections

At the American Hip Institute, our providers are specially trained to perform ultrasound-guided injections with accuracy and care. These procedures are done conveniently in the office at the time of your visit. Ultrasound guidance allows us to clearly visualize the hip structures in real time, ensuring that the injection is placed precisely where it is needed. This technique increases the safety and effectiveness of the treatment while minimizing discomfort.

Diagnostic Injections

Ultrasound-guided injections may be used for both diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. One common type is the diagnostic injection, which involves injecting a local anesthetic into the joint. This helps us determine whether your pain is coming from within the joint itself. If the injection provides relief, even temporarily, it confirms that the source of the pain is intra-articular (inside the joint). It’s important to understand that this type of injection is not intended to treat the condition but rather to help us identify the cause of your symptoms.

Ultrasound-guided injections are a safe and effective option that can help both diagnose and manage your hip condition, all while providing you with a more comfortable and accurate in-office experience.
